America's Cultural Revolution: How the Radical Left Conquered Everything by Christopher F. Rufo, Broadside Books, 2023.
America Becomes Infected with the German Disease
This book describes how German philosophers corrupted the culture of the United States. Herbert Marcuse studied the ideas of Kant, Hegel, Marx and Martin Heidegger. When Hitler came to power, Marcuse, being a Jew, had to flee. After he came to America, he became a professor at the University of California at San Diego. Marcuse favored a dictatorship of the intellectuals. His writings were studied by the Weather Underground Organization, the Black Panther Party and the Baader-Mainhof Gang. Angela Davis was his student.
Weather Underground
The Weather Underground Organization grew out of the Students for a Democratic Society. Members of the Weather Underground included Bernardine Dohrn, Bill Ayers, Mark Rudd and Jeff Jones. They asserted that America was a white supremacist society.
Long March through the Institutions
When these organizations found that violence does not work, the Left turned to the ideas of Rudi Deutschke, of a long march through the institutions, starting with infiltrating the colleges and universities.
Derrick Bell
Derrick Bell, a Harvard Law professor, vilified America as being deeply racist. Bell promoted Critical Race Theory. Bell had studied the ideas of Antonio Gramsci and Paulo Freire. Gramsci opposed cultural hegemony. Bell used creative fiction to advance his ideas.
Freedom of Speech
Restricting freedom of speech was the agenda of Mari Matsuda, Charles Lawrence III, Richard Delgado and Kimberle Crenshaw.
Black Lives Matter
The Black Lives Matter movement was largely based on the ideas of Angela Davis. The founders of BLM were Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi.
