The First Amendment to the United States Constitution forbids this country from establishing a state religion. The Church of England is the State religion of the United Kingdom This is a government sponsored religion. The founding Fathers decided we should not have that in our country. But in the 1960s the U.S. Supreme Court  decided to widen the separation of church and state by prohibiting school-led prayer. This decision was the result of a lawsuit by Steven Engel of the American Civil Liberties Union. . The Supreme Court also outlawed Bible recitation in school. This decision was the result of a lawsuit filed by Madalyn Murray, president of American Atheists. 

Russia: when the Bolsheviks took over, they burned 100,000 churches and killed 95,000 Russian Orthodox priests by firing squad.

Murray had been a member of the Socialist Workers Party.

  • Later U.S. Supremee Court decision further restricted Christianity in public space. After Christianity was gone, it was replaced by Islam. The void wa filled by Islam. The Islam indication of the American public schools was fought by the Thomas More Law Center [Paul E. Sperry]
