Fifty Miles from Tomorrow: A Memoir of Alaska and the Real People by William L. Iġġiaġruk Hensley, Sarah Crichton Books, 2008.
The early part of the book describes the author’s traditional Inuit childhood. He then describes his Western education in the lower 48. In his adult life, the author was a major advocate that a large part of federal government lands in Alaska be given to Inuits and Aleuts. Without the actions of Hensley and other natives, almost all Federal lands would have been given to white people.
